What is Your One Prayer?
Church leaders have submitted a total of 64 different messages during the weeks leading up to One Prayer. Each talk answers the following question: “If God would answer ‘one prayer’ for the church at large, what would you pray?” These pastors have delivered some very creative messages, and they’ve asked God to make us…one…generous…dreamers…dangerous…irresistible, and more. Take the time to join in these prayers with your church each week.
But now it’s your turn. If you could ask God to answer One Prayer for the church, what would it be?
I read an article about the film THE GUARDIAN which presents the U.S. Coast Guard rescue swimmers and how they endure eighteen weeks of very intense training, preparing them to jump from helicopters to rescue those in danger at sea. These people risk hypothermia and death by drowning - why would they want to do this? Their motto says it all - "So others may live".
My one prayer would be that more would be willing to witness to others in love and proclaim the message of our Lord Jesus Christ from the rooftops "so others may live".
My prayer is this:
That when people view us as a "whole" they see the body of Christ not a religion. For we are Christians "Christ like" whom follow in His footsteps. It was religion that put our Christ on the cross but when He arose and poured out His Spirit on the disciples even their shadows that touched people healed them.
My one prayer is for salvation. I want everyone to know who GOD is and what amazing things he can do for us.

I AM praying my one prayer. Lord break down the walls that divide us so we may see that we are ONE BODY with ONE GOD and ONE MISSION and that is to Love the Lord with all our HEART and Souls and to LOVE each other the same. This way the world will see your LOVE through us and desire to be a part of your amazing plan for us all.

To completely break us down in order to help us KNOW that God is by our side every step of the way and that we CAN make a difference in this world if we all work together and become one. Who knew the number one could be so powerful..
God loves beauty and diversity. My prayer would be acceptance of those diversities by
mankind...Remember we are all on the same journey, but all of us are at different
places in that journey (even non-believers). The church must reach out to those that are
"different" (unsaved?) where they are. Would Jesus turn away someone dressed in shorts
and sandals at his "gloved and suited" church? Would Jesus turn away a black person at
an "all white" church? Did Jesus refuse to sit down with heathens? Did Jesus work on
Sunday's when it was necessary?
Many people pray to God that the church remove their blinders...I would pray that the
church put them back ON! Quit judging others by what they do or don't do and what
you see or don't see. Jesus loved people into the kingdom and they followed Him.
He showed compassion and mercy and they followed Him. Too many folks have
a warped concept of our savior. They picture this big OGRE waiting to bash their heads
in when they screw up. We need to show them grace...it's all about grace...we have
been given reprieve after reprieve...God should have judged the world a long time ago.
GRACE. AMEN!
Father, give us your passion for those who are far from you.
My one prayer for the church at large would be "make us a blessing to You."
And like it is "make us a blessing to other people". May everything we think and everything we do be pleasing in God's eyes.

I would ask God to help people be the person he made them to be. To many people are so
worried about keeping up with the Jones or the world. We have lost all site on what it is to be a
Christian. We need to let people see God thru us everyday. Most of us do not let that happen.
God is good, loving and forgiving and most of the world is none of this. I would ask God to help
us get that in our life and let him shine thru us for everything that he is. When it all comes down
to it. It will be you and God.
my one prayer would be for the church to show Gods love unconditionally to everyone no matter
what race or sex to really show the world Jesus love.
I Pray that we will have the courage to do God’s work when he asks and the conviction to carry it through and that through pray and fasting that I can be still and know the GOD who it the creator, the designer, the comforter.
Greetings from 'Life Community' is Brisbane Australia - we have an awesome God. I look out the window this morning at the beauty of God's creation and I am reminded of His amazing provision and blessing. His mercies are new for me today. So I start the day with - 'Bring it on'. Lord I pray for wisdom like Solomon, strength like Samson, courage like Paul and a heart like Jesus.

My prayer is that the church would see the urgency of sharing the WORD of God and that they wouldn't assume that "someone else" will tell others.
My one prayer is that the Church would unite together in ending poverty in the world. Out of 6 billion people in the world today, roughly 20% live on $1-$2 per day. That's 1.2 billion people who live in adject poverty. I believe the Church can play an instrumental role in alleviating the suffering and violence that results from this global condition.
My one prayer is that we not just believe IN or know ABOUT God but that we would BELIEVE and KNOW God.
I pray that Christ followers choose to engage in what God is doing in this community.
My prayer is this: "May the God who gives you endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity amongst yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with ONE heart and mouth, you may glorify God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ"

May you all be blessed and let the Lord hear our prayers as we come to Him, unified through His Son, to reach out in love to all those who are lost.
My One Prayer for the Church would be healing. There are so many Christians that are hurting from their past, whether it be hurts that were inflicted upon us as a child or due to bad decisions made as adults. God doesn't want us living in the hurt and shame many of us hold within ourselves. Many mask a good life when the truth is they are hurting inside. Stepping into that hurt and opening up to God first, then trusted friends, is a hard and scary thing to do. The pain of going through healing is so very difficult but is so freeing. Through the tears, you can build a relationship with Jesus that is so deep. He is there for each of us and wants to lead us and hold us through the healing journey. Jesus will put "safe" people in our path but, for many, we have never allowed even "safe" people to know us. All too often, we follow our own desires and the people we let in are far from safe.
My One Prayer is that those that need healing would turn to Jesus, cry, confess, and start that healing they so deserve. Jesus, please put the right people in the lives of those that need healing, safe people who will not judge but will love them through the stories, confessions, pain and tears. Amen..

My prayer has been focusing on unity. I want the body of Christ to demonstrate unity and love so that we are different in a good way, attractive to those around us. I believe it starts on a personal level, unity in me towards others, in my family, in my extended family, in my friendships, in my church, in my community, in the body of Christ. If I start with me, then I can move outward. In as much as it is in my power, I want to be at one with all believers. (Tulsa, OK)
My one prayer is for the Church to accept everyone as their brothers and sisters in Christ. Most Christians today focus too much on who is most like them, who believes what they believe or who would be a good asset to their church community. When really, they should be looking for people who don't know Christ and those who are in need. To be ONE, we have to accept our differences and learn to rise above them.
Everyone has that one person in their family that no one really talks to, right? But you still love them no matter what and you would still do anything you could do to help them....because they are family! We are all God's children. :)

I would ask God to make our Church's wall so strong that there will be no way the devil can tear it down.
My one prayer would be echoing the words of Jesus in Matthew 9 v 36 - 38 When he saw the
crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless like sheep
without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers
are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest , therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
If we all got together and asked the Lord to send out more workers into the harvest field and we
were prepared to GO then there would be an incredible impact on this world.

My One Prayer to Father would be for all of us to believe, to truly believe as one because the effectiveness of our unity is unstoppable. We as one....what a concept.
My one prayer would be that we may fully unite as a Church so that we may reach those who are lost and have no idea what Church is or even who Jesus Christ is. There are so many out there that think because we are divided that Jesus is not real, but through our unity and through His Grace may we show who Jesus really is!
It's still...Make Us One.
I haven't worked it out completely, but my one prayer for the church has to do with our individual and collective faith. I pray that each of us as believers come to understand that God created us as individuals for a reason: He wants a personal relationship with each one of us. Because He created each one of us to be unique and special to Him, our relationship with Him will also be unique and special. Our individual walks with God, our journeys, our spiritual growth, our individual calling, our different purposes - these things will all be unique for each of us. Perhaps as we focus on Him and our relationship with Him, and not so much on others, we will be better Christians. Each of us fulfilling our unique purpose will only strengthen the church body as a whole, don't you think? If we're growing spiritually, becoming more like Christ, perhaps we will become more brave. Brave enough to love people the way Jesus did during His ministry on earth. Brave enough to get in the world and love on people who are hurting. Brave enough to share our faith. Brave enough to embrace the things we have in common as believers. Brave enough to break tradition. Brave enough to be obedient in the small things and the big things. Brave enough to make a difference in the world. Brave enough to stop speaking "Christianese" and start being authentic in how we relate to each other and others. I'm asking God to clarify this thought through this message series. Then I will be praying it starts with me.
My one prayer is that many more will be touched with God's grace and love. That we all can get along and love one another. That people realize loving God, Jesus, and the holy spirit would change their lives for the good forever.
God, give us a passion for souls. Make it loud!
The One Prayer I am asking God for the church is that He would enable us to extend as much grace to others as He extends to us. If we could see people through His eyes and embrace our fellow human beings right where they are and for who they are, they might see Jesus in us and in turn surrender their lives to Him.

I pray that our unity can bring those who do not know God into his light. Then they may know what I have come to see, that God is great. I also pray that we can charish each other as He does.
My prayer for the church is this, that we will be the hands of Christ to everyone in the church. That we will love like Jesus loved no matter how a person may look or behave. That the people will see that people with disabilities have a heart for God and that they aare people to and they have the ability to reach people for Christ.

Hi my name is Drew i am only 14 years old but i was touched when i herd how much we as believers in christ can do to change the world. my prayer is that we can make this world a better place in the name of our lord and savior. There are that many of us out there that we can make a differance in this world kids included.
My One Prayer for the church would be to continue to trust in God and the power of prayer. To demonstrate through our giving to the mission effort, that His love is our most valuable treasure.
My one prayer for the church would be continued unified prayer on an ongoing basis. I think that by praying in unity, we can make more powerful world change. Prayer as a group will have such an impact....which will lead to great things across the nations. I think that working together as a body of Christ, we will accomplish things for God better than working independently of each other.
I would like to give a "Challenge" to the Body of Christ! Those that are Tithers, I'd like to challenge you to not only pay your 10% to your church, but to "Prove God", as stated in Malachi 3, that God would open the windows of Heaven and "Pour out a blessing, that there'd not be roon enough to receive it"! My challenge is for those that will accept the challenge, to "give" an extra 10% as their Offering!
And as God Prospers you, through the process of "Seedtime and Harvest", watch the blessings come in to you! And as God blesses you, even "financially", begin to give even more, to the work of God, where-ever God may lead you to give!
God's Word says "Give, and it shall be given unto you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, shall MEN give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye give, it shall be measured to you again!
God's Word also says "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, EVEN as thy soul prospereth!
Whatsoever a man soweth, THAT shall he also reap!
As you "give", God will inspire "men" to give generously to "you"!
As you give, you will find that God will pour out blessings to you in ways you never even thought of! In other words, not ONLY financially!
ANYTHING that you give, of yourself, will be "multiplied" back to you, as your "harvest"!
Try it., and watch God move in your life!

Genesis 11:6 The Lord said, "Behold, they are one people and they have all one language, (message, thought, idea, plan, vision, purpose??). And this is only the beginning of what they will do, and now nothing they have imagined they can do will be impossible for them" AMP Bible, (words in parentheses are mine). The people were united, but for the wrong reason, and the Lord said that nothing would be impossible for them. Proverbs 29:18 Where there is no vision, the people perish KJV. Oh Church! Can we even begin to imagine what God's people can do if we were united with one vision?! Lord, forgive us for allowing petty differences divide us all these years. Restore us; unite us in One body, with One vision / purpose in One Lord, that is Christ Jesus.

My One Prayer for the church: God, give us One Heart, burning with fire for YOU!
My prayer has always been, Make us one. I never understood why the church was so divided as these divisions all seemed to be over petty issues, such as in the 2nd week's message. These petty issues will not keep us out of heaven, so why do they keep us out of each others church? Why are the issues of music, dress, hairdos, entertainment choices, etc so important that God's people cannot but aside these differences and come together as one, concentrating on the important things; one Lord, one baptim, salvation, the great commission, and loving each other? I am excited and honored to agree in prayer with thousands of others during this time, that God, our Father would unite us and truely make us one.
God, give us your heart

Rev 3:15-16 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
That we would love like Jesus loves. That simple. If everyone was completely committed to loving others, God and ourselves, I believe all the other pieces would fall into place. Because of our love, we would be ONE, passionate, effective, creative, etc.
My prayer is that we live in Your peace, the peace that transcends ALL understanding. No matter what life brings us, sorrow or joy, Lord let us walk in Your peace

My prayer would be, God, help us remember there is a world out there of people who do not know Christ. For us to get out of our comfort zone and open our eyes to see how many people we need to share Christ with on a daily basis.

My one prayer would be that God would allow us for one day to remember what it was like, what it feels like and what it is like, to be lost.
If I could have one prayer answered, it would be "God, help us to not pass judgement". I believe that it is all too easy to get caught up in our OWN routines and our OWN lives. We get so comfortable with our own walk with Christ that we pass others by when we should stop to help. We should all remember, that we are all in this world together. We are all children of Christ, the ONE father! None are created perfect, and we should not act as though we are.
My one prayer is Lord, make us selfless.
That peoples eyes would be open to one person who's live can be changed by the actions of one.
My One Prayer would be that every single person attending church, anywhere in the world, would stop looking in the mirror and start focusing on the people around them! If everyone that attends church would start helping others around them and start volunteering somewhere, anywhere, this world would be a totally different place! Sometimes I feel like people come to church, put a check in the box, and go on about their week like they always do. It's all about them, their family and what THEIR needs are. You have kids? Not an excuse! Take them with you to serve somewhere. Make it part of your lifestyle and theirs so that it's just normal to help people. That's how I grew up and I have my incredible father and mother to thank for that! Get up and get out there and help someone do something! You'd be amazed how many people would quit being depressed, suicidal and just plain sick all the time if they quit focusing on themselves and all of their problems! Ok, I'll get off my soap box now :)
Lord, I pray we will hear your call on our lives and respond with a glad and willing heart.

Discernment
my prayer... for us to understand more fully what the impact a unified church could actually have on this world. If we REALLY undeterstood this then we wouldn't hesitate or procrastinate.
My One Prayer would be "Lord, Make Us Love." Help us to trully love You and love others like we should. Not with lipservice, but through actions and a lifestyle that are fitting for Your children.

If I had one prayer, it would be to gain godly wisdom so that I can apply it to my daily life and become more like HIM!
For God to please help us show GOODNESS through KINDNESS. Goodness means a lot but kindness takes it a step further. Goodness is the feeling and kindness is the action. Even when it makes us uncomfortable, especially when it makes us uncomfortable, let us show kindness.
I pray for GOD to strip us of everything that is not of HIM and fill us up with everything that brings HIM glory. Give us hearts of compassion, minds of peace and hearts of joy. I pray for the protection of GOD'S people from evil and that our light of love shines so bright that the darkness in this broken world can no longer penetrate it. Bless all relationships that are of you GOD. Heal marriages and reconcile all of the shattered bonds that plague the world today.
I would ask God to help all people in Christ to unite and to "love" that unity, to stop the fighting over the differences that don't really make a difference and unite under the banner of Christ, Our Savior.
My prayer would be for our hearts to continually break for others. I want our hearts to be as compassionate and loving as God's is. I want everyone's heart to be broken for the hungry, the homeless, the hurting, the addicts, the orphans, the greedy, the jealous, the insecure, etc.
My prayer would be that we would all more consistently remember that we belong to Christ and that those outside the church see Christ through us. I am often disapointed to see the driver that is recklessly cutting through traffic without regard for anybody else has an Ichthus or church bumper/window sticker prominently displayed on his car. Too often this is how we represent the church.
My prayer for me and the church would be (and is) that when others see us today, that God would like what they see and how we represent Him because of His sacrifice and the grace that we have found through Him.
Make us honest. We're too good at hiding our true feelings and passions. The church has an un-tapped power source in the silence of Christ-followers. Silence caused by fear. Make us honest.
My one prayer would be that the fire that we all get when we are first saved, stays with us the rest of our life. That we are always on fire for Him and that in turn would cause us to spread His love and His word to others!!
That those church members become more aware of leading others to Christ and that we who are active in the many many church buildings stop looking down our noses at others and stop judging as you don't walk in that individuals shoes, instead learn to help them. I would pray to our Father in Heaven that we become more tolerant of each other, more understanding, more empathetic and more open minded in scripture.
Lord, Make Us Broken.
Take this fragile semblance that we show this world and break it.
Spill out all the bitterness and lies, the hatred and pain, the jealousy and rage.
Take away the apathy and the helplessness, pride and carelessness, worry and despair.
Put the pieces that are left through Your fire. Remake us; mold us into what is good in your eyes.
Pour in Your Truth, Your Mercy, Your Healing, and Your Joy.
Teach us how to care as You. Give us Your Power. Humble us.
Show us Your Glory. Make us know that you hold the future in your hand.

God give us less apathy and more action.
I was thinking of what my ONE prayer could be. It’s very challenging to narrow everything into one single idea. I wanted to say it should be to see others as Jesus sees them, to Love others, or as Pastor Craig said; “make us one.” I was wondering why it seemed so hard to do something that sounds so simple; Love others. Then it hit me! I can’t really truly love others if I haven’t got a grasp on God’s love for me. I mean to totally sell out, surrender myself to Him. It must be when I am so in tuned with God that all the other things fall into place. All the differences would no longer be a hindrance but instead become a Blessing. So I what truly want and pray for: to see only Him, to know God, love God as He loves me. Then maybe all the trappings of this world will fall away as I share His love with others.
Make us generationally-minded!
Statistically, the best way to grow God's church is to strategically aim at kids--our own, in our individual bodies, and across the world. Jesus, I ask that you make us passionate about bringing kids to you!

My desire is that our church would be so generous with our community, that people just cannot help but want to find out about Jesus. "Father, may we lift you up by exemplifying your generosity to our community."
I totally agree with Jesus' prayer to make His followers (the one's God gave Him) one. However it is a fairly new concept to me. I am loving the way it feels. Has anyone else noticed? Can you tell there are beleivers all over the world focused on a single theme? I can actually feel it. It's like a burden's been lifted in my prayer life, my energy level is through the roof, my fear issues have been alleviated...how I wish we could do this always. And yet I feel a sneaking pessimism that we (especially me) will forget. So on top of "make us one" I'd pray that we DO NOT FORGET that in Jesus' final hours of freedom, while he was praying in the garden so fervently that he was literally sweating blood that He was praying for us to be one. (My best friend pointed that out to me. Credit where credit's due.)
My One Prayer would be for us all to be bold. I think most Christians are afraid of stepping on others' toes or rejection, myself included. So I would pray that God fill us with boldness to approach others about God and His saving grace. Taking the initiative instead waiting for opportunities to arise.

My One Prayer is to always worship God in Spirit and Truth John 4:27-42. To live for the Lords Will and not my will.
My One Prayer would be for God to make us Encouraging Toward Others. I feel like a person can look around them and see people who want them to fail, rather than to succeed. A small, negative comment - a large blatant selfish action.
I'm blessed to be surrounded with many people who positively want me to succeed, and I thank God for that blessing, but my heart hurts for others who are broken, and therefore are trying to break others in return.

I would pray that God unite the Christian faith into one big family & that we all share our faith with those who don't know about His unfading love. I also will pray for everyone who hears these messages to go out and share His word!! GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME!!!
my one prayer for the church would be that we, as the body of Christ ,would truly live our livesas we say we believe...that our actions are the testimony for God's love not our words.
My one prayer would be that God would teach us to LOVE. As the Bible says, "Love covers a multitude of sins." and "The greatest of these is love."
Jesus loved us so much that He lay down His life. If we truly love Him, we will lay down our lives and follow Him. We would take the focus off of ourselves and put the focus on Him and the desires of His heart. And only when we are truly filled with love, can we lay down our lives, our fears, our selfishness and pride and follow Him.
Think of how different the world would look if we really learned to love; if we looked at others the way God sees them. WOW! The world would CERTAINLY be a better place.

My One Prayer is this - that God would teach me how to love as He loves, to teach the church to love as He loves. Think about how many lives we could touch if we would actually see people as God sees them - His creation. We all sin and fall short and we all have to opportunity of forgiveness through Jesus. Lord I ask you right now, to soften the heart of the church, to love the sinner and hate the sin. Help the world to know we are different by our love. I pray this in Jesus name, AMEN!
My one prayer is to make me fruitful in all areas of life and to make an impact when i come in contact with people
Father, help us to trust... trust you with all our life, trust you with leading us in truth, trust you with our community, trust you with our finances, trust you with our family. For if we truly trusted You, we would not be afraid, we would act with compasion, we would love without condition, we would share without reserve, we would be one in You
I would pray that we be a cracked vessel that God can continuously flow through; what He gives us, we give away. That we accept God at His Word and let Him flow through us. And in the dry-spell or wilderness when it feels like God has slowed the flow, we keep giving as though the flow never stopped. dkl Wellington
Father my One Prayer today is for your guidance and direction. I need to hear your voice for my family, my church, and we need to hear your voice for our country.
My one Prayer for the church is that in everything that we do, we step out in the love of Christ. The he be proud that we are His body for we extend the love that he has so greatly shown us.
Lord, make us BURNING HOT for you! We don't want to be lukewarm or cold!
Before I accepted Christ as my savior, teacher, Lord, and friend, I was sort of a fuzzy new-age pantheist. And before that I was a Baha'i. As I Baha'i, I felt I had the key to world unity and peace. All we needed was for everyone to become Baha'i! I have come to believe that not everyone will agree on a religion. God draws each believer in the way that is right and timely for her. And some will never be believers at all.
Still, my prayer for the Church is unity. Not that we all think the same way. I can see by the one prayer responses so far that we have very different slants. But let's accept the diversity in the Christian body and remember that Christ is the head.
This Sunday I will be presenting our "one prayer" locally, here in Australia, called "Help us remember".
It's about THE Story that matters and also that our story matters, being spurred on by reports of a supernatural God intervening in natural situations as we face our giants.
I would ask god to make us warriors, That we not shy from the Truth, or the opportunity to share it, or the consequences that follow it, having faith in Him who is our master.
Father, Make Us Contagious!
May our Joy in being the Church be contagious, the way it was in Acts 2.
Nothing has touched me as much in my entire life than thinking about what Craig said about the possible outcome for the world if we as a Church were One. He very clearly stated that if we TRULY were One, the world would not only be a better place, but could be as perfect a place as any of us could hope to live. My first instinct was to follow that prayer. To be one of millions who could answer Jesus Christ's prayer that we become One. And after much time soul searching, I realize that the only way for this to be possible is to have the ability to do it, and not fear the outcome. My prayer would be this. Dear Heavenly Father, make us STRONG. Strong enough to believe that what we are doing is right, and just, and needed, and strong enough to forget about our egos and our insecurities and our doubts. "I want to be a FORCE OF GOD, instead of a feverish, selfish little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making me happy." Please Lord, give us the ability to forget ourselves, that we might finally discover who we are and what we, as ONE, can accomplish in your name.
First of all, what an honor just to have an opportunity to share my prayer for God to "Make Us Uncomfortable" as videotaped message for the One Prayer project!
I just posted in my blog about how one of the gifted speakers that also submitted a videotaped teaching message, Pastor Perry Noble, had been slandered with a bunch of nonsense from a pastor that had no clue what God was doing in the ministry today in reaching those that have not been reached through other, more-conventional means. It pained me to hear what was said against another man of God and just reminded me even more of why One Prayer is so important for us to put into our hearts and combine with the rest of the gospel of Christ. Until we are ONE we will not know peace or the true nature of the kingdom of heaven. As Pastor Groeschel said in his videotaped teaching, Lord, Make Us ONE!
