All That Matters

Psalm 133:1 (NIV)
How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!

During the span of my 34 years in ministry, I have had the honor of sitting with many in their final hours. As the curtains draw their brief lives to a close, nothing except the vital remains. And each time, without fail, everything else pales in comparison to their desire for healthy relationships.

In the end, our vertical relationship with Christ and our horizontal relationships with people will be all that matters.

Sometimes we don’t recognize what’s most eternal until we are face to face with it. But why wait?

Jesus reminded us that the greatest commandment in Mark 12:30 is to love God with all we’ve got, and then do the same with those around us. He then concludes with these words: “There is no greater commandment…”

Living in unity…

It doesn’t mean we always agree. It does mean, however, that we always support. We always speak well of. We always love, and we always stay on the same team. We’re one body.

My heart doesn’t do what my liver does. Nor do my kidneys do what my lungs do. They can’t really get together and just chill. They don’t compete. They don’t try to be like each other. Instead, “unity” in my body is defined by each part doing what it is assigned to do to the best of its ability, and the other parts?
They cheer and support!
When God sees that happening in His family, He leans over the banister of heaven, and with a sigh of delight, says, “It just doesn’t get any better!”

What can you do today that will promote unity with your brothers and sisters in Christ?

help. I am beaten and humbled more than i ever could be. i have nothing I am nothing. God has broken me leaving me completely humbled and at His mercy. I am trusting that He will lift me from this dark place as only He can. He has allowed all this hardship to come into my life for a reason and only He can bring me through it. I pray earnestly, and BEG that He will.

  • John 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

I pray that our church would continue to be a loving church. Jesus commanded us to "love one another" How easy is that! As Christians we love God. We believe Jesus died for our sins. We believe the only way to the Father is through His Son, Jesus Christ. These are the important things. I pray that we as a united church would focus on what we have in common and not on our differences. Let us love one another.

I am very excited to be a part of one prayer. Thank you for the encouragement I have found on this site to continue to move forward in christ. I appreciate the reminder that we must love the Lord our God with all our heart soul and mind and that it is a privilage to be able to pray.

My ONEprayer is that we should be encouragers and not discouragers in all we say
and do, building each other up, accepting one another in love. Warts and all!
    Build your church Lord.
    In Jesus Name Amen.

let me just say our god is an awesome god. period. and his word says that a kingdom divided will fail. as a christian KINGDOM we need to stand together as one and truly love god.

some arguement us "christians" have come up with are truly horrible. and honestly its not being CHRIST LIKE, btw that is where CHRISTians comes from, trying to truly be christ like.

    music,
    seating,
    bible versons,

they don't matter because we are LOVING and WORSHIPING OOONNNEE GOD!!!!!!!!!! and if our eyes are set on the details of our church our eyes cant be on god because we're letting other things take our attention.

remember martha and mary. martha asked jesus to tell mary to get up and help her so she can prepare for jesus, but MARY was worshiping jesus,

guys we are becoming martha's and forgetting about being mary.

thats why i support this vision soo much, it focases on being the mary for god

It is such an amazingly simple thought do what we are supposed to do and encourage others that are doing the same. Good post Wayne.

Deanna---I love your idea of praying for the churches you pass on your drives!!

Today, I will lift up in prayer, not only the people I know, but the people I don't know.

I am praying for my sister in law this week. She for many years has pointed out things, has made myself and children feel we are wrong for being a part of LifeChurch.TV because she is apart of another church body. It has caused divisions among our families that should not be there and it has be a part of my husbands reasoning for not becoming involved with any religion or church. I pray that she sees the true purpose of One Prayer. I pray for healing with her so that we may have peace in the family.

Today i will speak well of others, love them, support them and be so grateful that I am a part of the body of Christ! That is the coolest analogy! Thank you Pastor Wayne and everyone. This has been the most uplifting and wonderful experience - I am so blessed!

Praise God! May He bless your day with love, joy, hope, excitement, opportunities and more love!

I Love it and all that this is supporting. I have always believed this and I think it is about time that we all stand up and support one another. I also love the anology of the body parts, too. It is absolutely true, its amazing how God uses all of us as his body and it works! God is amazing! I just love him.

I pray that I can learn to control my words. Sometimes I say unloving things - and I pray that I can stop, think what would Jesus say, and then act accordingly.

Reading all the comments each day, sharing One Prayer with friends and co-workers, praying and fasting has truly energized me and encouraged me to strengthen my commitment to help lead people to be fully devoted followers of Christ. I absolutely love One Prayer and what it's doing in my community. Thank you to all the pastors who had the courage and humility to bring it into your churches.

I loved the body parts comparison. I pray we all remember we are the the "Body" and need to work together to bring God the glory He deserves.

When I drive around town, I intentionally pray for the churches I pass along the way. In addition, in response to the challenge of promoting unity with my brothers and sisters in Christ, I will encourage them in their relationships with Christ and their service in their churches. I loved the analogy about the body parts!

Let them know how much I love them. And to continue to show my delight in Him!

I just read a wonderful devotion which stated" Once you've been refreshed by God, let him refresh others through you! Ever since the day that I became one with Him, I have wanted to share His Word with others. I don't want anyone to be deprived of the joy that I have and continue to experience.
