One Prayer Daily Devotional by Ed Young, Jr.
One Prayer Daily Devotional by Ed Young,Jr.: Senior Pastor, Fellowship Church
John 17:23 (NIV)
I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.
Jesus knew the opportunity that was before him. The time had come to sacrifice himself so that every single person on earth could have a chance for a relationship with God. But with every opportunity, there is opposition. And Jesus was about to face overwhelming opposition. He would be betrayed by one of his closest friends to a group of people who wanted him dead.
Yet, in the face of pressure so intense that it caused him to sweat drops of blood, Jesus prayed for all believers to be “brought to complete unity.” His hope in the time of his deepest pain was that each of us would join together as one.
This series is our chance to live out that prayer like no other time in history. And as we come together as one church to offer our One Prayer to the one true God, we have the chance to show the world the love that Jesus prayed about.
Rather than being the opposition for one another, we can unite to provide opportunities for hope and healing to so many people who are in desperate need of a relationship with Christ.
Ask yourself if you are a catalyst for opportunities in the life of your church and in the lives of those around you. Ask God to show you those opportunities to step up and step out. Because as you follow his lead, you will discover the true power of Jesus’ prayer in your life as well.
How can you reach out in love to your brothers and sisters in Christ and be a catalyst for unity?
We will fast tomorrow and pray for our world leaders.
I'm looking foreward to it
stephbland,
We pray that you and yours will find peace in knowing all are praying and that Jesus is our future.
This One Prayer series has me praying almost without ceasing.
We're working on it though.
We know prayer changes things and peep's.
Thank you Jesus.
Please pray for my children Abi, Holt, Britt and Austin. My husband has had a job change and we are selling our house. My kids are devasted and scared about thier future.
My fast yesterday reminded me of the power in prayer! It was hard but GOD got me thru!!
Thanks for the great thoughts on how passionate Jesus was/is about unity. I think I am inconsistent in where I fall when I ask myself if I am a catalyst for unity. I want to think that I am, but often I'm adding bricks and mortar to wall that divides us. This series and these messages and devotions are challenging me to take an even harder look at my role in my sphere of influence. I can work more specifically on pulling those walls down and finding places for unity rather than those areas we disagree.
Thanks for the reminder! I loved the thought that in a moment of great pressure what was on Jesus' mind was for us to be ONE.
please pray for brandon, gina, raymond, ray, sue, ric and kim. We need to get them back to church.then to get them in a life group.
Ok, so I am a day late, a dollar short as they say...So I will fast today and Praise God for directing me here today!! This is my time to break out of my shell that I have been living in. I will finally join a local church and become the person I was made to be... Thanks be to Him!! I will break free of my chains of worry and profess His amazing love for us and I will be a catalyst to those who dont know Him the way that I am getting to know Him... I look forward to joining the rest of you soldiers and am ready to unite with you for this purpose, for His purpose... I am in awe and I am extremely excited about this series!! (((((((((Hugs)))))))))) to all of you! God speed! and God Bless you all! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am so excited about this!
Lord thank you for helping me to join in this fast even though at the moment I can only manage half a day because of medical reasons, Father I pray for my church today that we will catch hold of your heart for the people who do not yet know you in the community you've placed us. We sing this song so often "break my heart for what break yours.....show me how to love like you have loved me" God may this be a reality, we are desperate for your move father.
-please pray for JoeyPuca who needs gods guidence and strength- please pray for my family and for my cousin Anthony Allisio who is going through kemo therapy .And also for Joseph
Wow Megan! Amen to that prayer.
Wow, what an awesome post. it made me all warm and happy inside
I am praying for the people all over the world who have been burned by the church. I praying for the homosexual, the CEO, the prostitute, my aunts and uncles, my Dad, my grandmother, the school teacher, the homeless drug addict, the high school athlete...
So many people out there have the wrong idea about God and about what Jesus did, because there are so many Christians out there that are more worried about being right or being the best than they are about following Christ and loving each and every person that God created.
I pray for those that think they know who Jesus is, but just had the wrong teacher. I pray for their hearts and that God may introduce others into their lives that know the true meaning of living for Christ.
Thanks to everyone on this blog for the passion and fire that is burning in your hearts. Thanks for sharing your stories and for praying your hearts out. May God continue to bless your week and fill you up....even if your tummy is empty ;o)
Please lift up Jerl, Brian & Greg
please preay for, Joshua, Maritza,Brendon
Please pray for Regina
I'm praying for all Christians to practice what they preach. Don't be judgmental, don't be hypocritical, and don't impose your beliefs on others. Be someone a non-believer would want to be. Peace.
Today is the first time I have ever tried fasting. Jesus did it for us for 40 days so I know one day of fasting we could do for him.
In my heart I am fasting for all of those who do not know Christ. I pray that they may find him in their heart and be so moved that they will want to know him and have a personal relationship with him.
So many of my friends do not know him. There is one in particular his name is Mike that keeps crossing my heart. He is going through some hard times and needs back surgery. He also has a number of other health issues. I pray that may the Lord come into his heart and be with him to show him how good God's love is. May this show him how to turn his life around and walk with God. May he become excited about God and want to have some fellowship with others.
By understanding and acceptance of each others strentghs and differences. As Craig said, each church does something great and if we each pray that God uses those strengths then the body of Christ will come together as ONE and be an incredible awesome powerful world wide presence!
Love to all!

I think that 'One Prayer' is a tremendous beginning for believers to unite. In doing this we will help bring the remaining prophecies to fulfillment. Praise God!! He is in this place. Can you imagine how excited and proud we would make Him by being united, serving each other, caring for the helpless and making sure His word is spread to the 'Ends of the Earth?'
On the individual level we must start by embracing each other and focusing on all we have in common. (Yes, that would be our Messiah.) Then we need to stop criticizing each others differences. God made us each to uniquely serve His kingdom. When that becomes a realization, I believe those who are lost will finally see the love in us and begin to trust us.
It is my daily prayer that all those I come into contact with will see 'My Father's Love' in my eyes. God is great!!!!!
I believe that if I keep a positive attitude in my daily ways, that I will be a definite catalyst for the Lord. Through daily prayer and devotion to Him, I feel that I can project a deep soulful message to others
Im fasting andpraying for my wife, who lives in her emotions where there is no stability. I pray that she she can find a true foothold in Christ, and that we can both live the way God wants us to live. Not her will, not my will but THY will be done. I pray we can humbly learn to build our broken down marrage to show the world how glorious Jesus truly is, to be a sign and a wonder to all.
Steve
I am in prayer for someone close to me who is struggling with alcoholism. I also am asking God to make me more sensitive to those I come in contact with on a daily basis so that I may wholeheartedly use my influence to introduce them to Christ.
I have the privilege of attending the Life Church Edmond, Oklahoma campus and listen to Craig on a weekly basis. Having personally known him for several years, I can tell everyone that he is the "real deal". He and his family are true servants.
I can't wait to hear what the other pastors have to share with us in the upcoming weeks. God bless you guys today in your fast. OnePrayer can and will bring dramatic change to the church.
Ed, Its great to know your ministry is participating in One Prayer. You have been part of my walk with Jesus since I was a baby in Christ. you have help me grow closer to Jesus and challenged me in ways you will never know.
I beleave one way we can reach out to our brothers and sisters is to continue do the exact very thing we are doing now. Share with each other the work God has done thru the people he has put in our lives. We sometimes dont inderstand why God puts us in certain situations or moves us to a new city or opens a door for a new job but its through his power and for his glory that this all happens. We just dont slow down to recognize it. Then when good things happen we are all to quick to think its because of ourselves. I have come to realize that everything good in my life has been a gift or blessing from God.
We need to reach out and be honest with our brothers and sisters and accept them for who they are IN Jesus Christ OUR Lord and Savior.
Thank you Craig for your leadership and most importantly for following Gods spirit in your life. I will continue to pray for you and your family and all who participate in One Prayer.
God Bless
I can feel the unity, ONE person to another, ONE church to another,ONE denomination to another , ONE country to another, ONE God, ONE son who died for us, ONE in Christ.................LOVE ONE ANOTHER........catalyst for unity............reach out to another with his love. I stand in awe of the power of his love!!!!
Pray for Rachel she was once a believer when we are children and now she thinks that if there is a God He is a cruel.
Running through my brain while power walking this evening was the question posed in today’s’ devotion. “How can I reach out to my brothers and sisters in Christ; becoming a catalyst for unity?” This was huge! See on one level I long to be able to reach out, and yet I am trapped by strong, thick walls built as protection from past hurts. But I thought about the pain that Jesus felt as He sweat drops of blood. Knowing that nothing I experience can compare, I decided it was worth the risk to step outside my comfort zone. I feel a sense of exhilarating reservation but participating in this post is an empowering step in the right direction. I pray that I can continue to step outside my comfort zone and be more open to building relationships with my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
One prayer has given me strength and has renewed my dedication and servatude as a Life Group Leader. It has made me get out of my comfort zone and to encourage not only those in our Life Group but others outside the church. It is an exciting time and I am privledged to be apart of the history making. n I'm in anticipation of what God is going to reveal to me during the fasting time tomorrow.
One Prayer has helped me ask other people if their church is doing it. And also to encourage others(mainly my boss) to dig deeper into godly things. She is a Christian just not doing everything she can to follow God. It will be interesting to see the outcome of all this. Matthew Wood- Plum Creek
We worship with Lifechurch.tv on the Internet Campus. Our little group that meets in our home are hoping to be able to do some work on a young widows house in a few weeks. She is a member of an Adventist church along with one of the couples that comes to our home for Lifechurch. We hope to be able to invite some people from other churches
Please pray for my son. He has been dealing with a debilitating illness this past year. He has always had a strong relationship with Christ but he is questioning God and why he has allowed this to happen to him. I know God has a plan and purpose for his life and he will work things out for his good. Please pray for my son to see God and his goodness in the middle of his pain. I am honored to be a part of one prayer and looking forward to see how it will impact the world
I know for me, it was easier to start reaching out when I understood what was my passion. Homelessness and those who are victims of it really pierce my heart, so it was a lot easier to get involved with a soup kitchen than it was to try to reach out in other ways. Thanks for your note and the encouragement it offers.
I attend NewSpring Church in Anderson, S.C. and Perry Noble really rocked our world with
his sermon on our prayer for God to Make Us Dangerous. He challenged us to walk in
anticipation of what God can do and not in frustration of how life happens. To walk with our
heads up looking to God who is so powerful rather than walking with our heads down in
despair over our problems. It was a great sermon, great music, great day in God house!
I hope all people involved got just as much as I did from the first One Prayer sermon!
OnePrayer has encouraged me to go out and tell people that we are all ONE church and we all serve ONE God. Its hard to convince people since we have been separated for so long, but people will listen if you tell them. My goal for this week is to tell at least 1 person per day about OnePrayer and how we all serve ONE God, perhaps this will bring them to church or even to find our Lord and Savior.
Lifechurch.tv Tulsa campus.
I Attend New Life Worship Center in Central , South Carolina, and our service was great the praise and worship was wonderful. I am so excited to join together with thousands of other believer during this One Prayer Series.GOD Iis doing something wonderful and I'm glad to be a part of it.
I am usually not one to forward mass emails or push agendas but I have been so excited about this effort to unify the church that I sent an email to lots of friends from different churches....just letting them know about the importance of One Prayer. It felt great to have some boldness without any personal gain....it was all for the purpose of reaching out and being an intentional part and hopefully "being a catalyst for unity" as stated in the question above.
Awesome!! The question I ask myself is how can I not reach out in love?? how can I be so lazy, so forgetful?? God hooks me up so much! From my job, to my wife, to my health, His love is nonstop. How can I not reach out to others?? My goal is to take the time to remember to tell people about all the wonderful stuff God has done for me lately! I think doing this will help me be a catalyst for unity! Thanks for the message!
My mother visited this weekend and was moved to tears at how needed this idea is. It truly is amazing how far off the mark churches have been in the past. We really are making history as the people of God!

I think we have to see the world in a selfless view. I believe so much more could be accomplished if we just went out and did selfless acts every chance we had, and without having to tell people why we are doing it or what church we are from. If we gave out acts of love with a pure heart people will ask you questions that can open the door for us to tell them that they are our brother/sister and we simply love them and care about them out of the love Christ gives us. That will blow people's minds.
A forward... Louie Giglio was talking about how inconceivably BIG our God is...how He spoke the universe into being...how He breathes stars out of His mouth that are huge raging balls of fire...etc. etc. Then He went on to speak of how this star-breathing, universe creating God ALSO knitted our human bodies together with amazing detail and wonder. .."How can ANYONE deny that a Creator did all of this???"
Louie went on to talk about how we can trust that the God who created all this, also has the power to hold it all together when things seem to be falling apart...how our loving Creator is also our sustainer.
And then I lost my breath.
And it wasn't because I was running my treadmill, either!!!
It was because he started talking about laminin.
Here is how wikipedia describes them :"Laminins are a family of proteins that are an integral part of the structural scaffolding of basement membranes in almost every animal tissue." You see....laminins are what hold us together....LITERALLY. They are cell adhesion molecules. They are what holds one cell of our bodies to the next cell. Without them, we would literally fall apart. And I knew all this already. But what I didn't know is what laminin LOOKED LIKE.
Here is what the structure of laminin looks like...AND THIS IS NOT a "Christian portrayal" of it....if you look up laminin in any scientific/medical piece of literature, this is what you will see...
(picture a cross)
Now tell me that our God is not the coolest!!!
Amazing.
The glue that holds us together....ALL of us....is in the shape of the cross.
Immediately Colossians 1:15-17 comes to mind.
"He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
For by him all things were created; things in heaven and on earth , visible and invisible,
whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities;
all things were created by him and for him.
He is before all things,
and in him all things HOLD TOGETHER. "
Colossians 1:15-17
We praise YOU, LORD!!!!!
I have just read about one prayer for the first time and I could not hold back the tears. It was just conformation in my spirit what God has been doing in our church concerning unity. We are a new church in Pt.Charlotte,FL. our pastor as well as alot of our member went through some painful labor pain before our church was birthed but God has been moving us into a new demintion and you can really feel that spirit of unity in the house. The revival in Lakeland,FL. and now with One Prayer has confirmed in my spirit what is doing in the body of Christ .God bless you in your faithfulness.
In His Service,
Michelle Yates
Thanks for the thoughts and the passion!
Love is the answer... if we could just understand how to love with the love of God... the free-flowing unconditional love that Jesus has for us... if we could show that kind of love to the rest of the world I know people would wake up to who God is!
My prayer this week is that around the world we would be more sensitive to the spirit... that we would LISTEN to what He is saying!
Thank you God for your love! I know that threw you all things are possible! Thank you for showing us the way! In Jesus name I thank you!
Ed, Thanks for your thoughtful words. Your question is a good one. I am excited to see how people respond. One Prayer is definitely a big step in the right direction. Blessings to you and your whole crew at Fellowship Church.
reaching out in love to my brothers and sisters means daily sacrificing...my time, thoughts, resources, so on.
One of the questions that I left with our people this past Sunday was... "Are we the answer to Jesus' prayer or the problem... the blessing or the barrier?" Jesus said that the most effective way for the world to know that God loves them and the true purpose of His journey to earth can be found when "we are one." Is it any wonder why our world questions God's love and Jesus' purpose. It's time we stop playing for the name on our signs and start playing for the name of our Savior.
How can people of this world see Christ if we are divided? But a united church how can people not see HIM? My prayer is that we are contegious in love, service, kindness, generosity etc. I want other churches to want to do this things because thru this......they will see HIM. People will want to serve HIM because not of what we do but because they will see how much they are loved.
